Veterans Week Film Screening - Burd

At 110 years old, Burdett "Burd" Sisler was the oldest person in Canada and one of the last surviving WWII veterans. Through interviews, reenactments, and archival material, the film reflects on a life shaped by war, grief, and love.

Join the Military Communications and Electronics Musuem and the direcetor Abraam Dawod for a special screening of an award-winning documentary that celebrates the remarkable life of Burd Sissler, Canada's oldest living person and one of the last surviving veterans of the Second World War. Through personal stories, historical reflections, and intimate moments, the film offers a rare glimpse into more than a century of resilience, service, and lived experience. Join us for this inspiring screening and hear the story of a man whose life spans some of the most significant events in Canadian history, reminding us of the courage, sacrifice, and wisdom that continue to shape our nation today. The screening will take place in the museum's main gallery and guests will be able to engage with the film's creators and explore the history of military communications and electronics in Canada.
