The Juvenis Festival

The Juvenis Festival is back for its 6th year in the heart of Kingston, for a special summer edition. Offering all the highlights of past Juvenis Festival’s - performances, youth art galleries, the 24 hour musical and free workshops for youth. The Festival is one of only 2 of its kind in Canada; an arts festival completely run and created by youth under 30. From performance teams to participants to volunteers to Blue Canoe Staff; all youth helping youth grow their artistic abilities. 

This year we have a stellar production team producing You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, a heartfelt and hilarious musical based on the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. Led by Hailey Hatfield this team brings all the curiosity of Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole peanuts gang to the stage! Don’t miss this production running throughout the festival from July 30th to August 8th at the Domino Theatre. 

For youth who want a unique challenge we have our 24 hour musical, participants come together on August 2nd, are given a musical and have 24 hours to rehearse before they perform it for an audience at the Domino Theatre on August 3rd. This hilarious, creative challenge is a memorable summer experience for youth and audiences alike.  

To round out the festival throughout the two weeks we have free workshops for youth ranging from creating your own flipbook, group singing, devising theatre and production training. All of our workshops are free for youth under 30 to make education and growth accessible for young people in Kingston.
