Sheep to Shawl Competition

AUGUST 7-9: Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival.  A great location to spend the day - with demonstrations, a vendors, and food trucks. Celebrate agriculture, heritage and community as well as the excitement of competitive sheep herding. This longstanding family-friendly event showcases the skill and partnership between sheep dogs and their handlers. Plus Kingston Handloom Weavers & Spinners are holding events each day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that include: Spindle Fest on Friday — try small portable tools used to convert fleece into a usable yarn; Sheep to Shawl Competition on Saturday — five spinners and 1 weaver prepare, spin and weave a fresh fleece into a beautiful shawl; KHWS Highlights on Sunday — Shawls sold by auction - fibre, processing and spinning for weaving, knitting, etc. Admission for the day is $10 per person, or $25 for all three days; free for kids 12 and under.
