Ten years ago, The Tragically Hip came home on a Saturday night to play to an intimate crowd of about 6,700 people, including former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, at Kingston’s Slush Puppie Place while outside, just a few blocks away, 25,000 people gathered in Springer Market Square where a large LED screen and speakers had been set up. The concert was live streamed by CBC across the country and was watched by more than 11.7 million Canadians.On May 13, the CBC announced that it will be rebroadcasting the final concert on Saturday, Aug. 22 and Kingston is ready.
