Are you interested in learning some Irish Gaelic? —In knowing more about the history of the Irish people in Canada? Harp of Tara Kingston is offering a weekend of language classes, cultural workshops and social activities on April 11-13. Irish language will be taught at four levels, from beginner to fluent. Cultural activities include workshops in Irish music, Celtic art, set dance, singing in Irish and whisky tasting, as well as a Friday evening siamsa (a social circle devote to songs, stories, dance and music). Highlights of the weekend are a special lectureon the history of Irish language literature in Canada, by Máirtín Coilféar of Concordia University; a screening of Lost Children of the Carricks, a film on an Irish refugee family in Quebec; and a Saturday evening céilí (Irish dance party).To find out more, or to register for the event, go to www.harpoftara.ca or email info@harpoftara.com
